July! Modern headlines from the month served with a Classic Hollywood twist...

Woof. Things are achieving record heat here in sunny SoCal.

I love this sentiment:

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Well, in our case, we have been watching our plants die so it seemed serendipitous that PermaLeaf® contacted me with an offer to send me one of their outdoor plants in return for an honest review.

Here is a picture of the artificial plant they sent me:

Clearly the plant is surviving the heat battle. However, it did not win in the cat battle -- our cat loves to rip things that are leafy to shreds, and it hadn't been out of the box one night before we had a chance to set it outside before she had discovered her new "toy".

Yes, cats are brats.

*Sad face*

I am unsure about the price point of over $100 for this product; however, I do think that any greenery (fake or not) adds to a space. In this case, it was the perfect addition to our balcony, even though the cat is attacking it.

Stay cool out there fellow Angelenos and all of you hanging out in similarly toasty climes!
